A Career Dedicated to Children's Health

From the Navy to your living room — 15+ years of medical experience.

Dr. Rivers is board-certified in pediatrics with extensive training and real-world experience caring for children of all ages. Her background includes 10 years of primary care at The Corvallis Clinic, where she built lasting relationships with hundreds of local families. She also served as a pediatric hospitalist at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center, managing complex cases and emergencies.

Her medical journey began with service as a General Medical Officer in the U.S. Navy, where she developed skills in resource-limited environments that still inform her practical, patient-centered approach today. Dr. Rivers earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Western University of Health Sciences and completed her pediatric residency at SUNY Upstate in New York.

Why Direct Primary Care

Medicine the Way It Should Be

Your child's care decisions are made by you and your doctor — not an insurance company.

After years in traditional practice, Dr. Rivers grew frustrated watching insurance requirements dictate how she practiced medicine. Visit times were too short. Paperwork consumed hours that should have been spent with patients. Families waited weeks for appointments while she saw 22+ patients per day.

Direct Primary Care allows her to practice the way she always wanted — with time to listen, space to educate, and availability when families need her most. Without insurance billing, she can focus on what actually matters: your child's health.

Our Foundation

Care Rooted in Compassion

New Way Pediatrics is founded on the belief that every person is created with dignity and worth. Dr. Rivers' faith in Jesus shapes how she practices medicine — striving to love others with compassion, humility, and kindness.

This commitment means practicing evidence-based medicine, advocating for children and families, and pursuing excellence in every aspect of care. Families of all faiths, beliefs, and backgrounds are welcome. Medical care is never contingent on shared beliefs.

Beyond the Stethoscope

The Person Behind the Practice

When she's not caring for patients, you might find her on a trail or around a board game table.

Dr. Rivers believes in living a full life outside of medicine. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, hiking forest trails with her dogs, traveling to new places, working in her garden, playing board games, and constantly reading and learning.

Adventures & Interests

Her passion for medicine extends to some unusual places. She's attended multiple conferences on wilderness medicine — caring for patients in remote environments. She's a certified scuba rescue diver. Her travels have taken her to numerous countries, giving her perspective on healthcare across different cultures.

Dr. Rivers Says: A Children's Book About Doctor Visits

Making check-ups less scary, one superhero at a time.

Dr. Rivers wrote "Dr. Rivers Says" to help children feel comfortable during doctor visits. The book follows a brave little superhero who uses imagination and a cool costume to face her fears at her annual check-up. Illustrated by her father, the book shows young children that visiting the doctor can be an exciting adventure.

Available on Amazon, it makes a great gift for families preparing for their first well-child visit — or for any child who gets nervous at the doctor's office.
