The Real Math

How DPC Membership Compares to Traditional Care

When you add up what families actually pay, DPC often costs less than you'd expect.

"The average health insurance deductible in 2025 is $1,886 for single coverage... Before insurance pays anything for your child's sick visits, most families spend hundreds of dollars out-of-pocket each year."

What Families Typically Pay With Insurance

  • Sick visit copay $25-50
  • Urgent care visit $75-150
  • ER visit copay $150-500+
  • Annual out-of-pocket $500-1,050+

What You Pay With New Way Pediatrics

  • Membership (2 kids) $3,600/yr
  • Unlimited Sick Visits $0
  • Direct Access $0
  • Hidden Fees $0

For families who value time, convenience, and direct physician access, DPC often provides better value than traditional insurance-based care.

Common Questions

Questions About Membership?

Answers to what families ask most about pricing and value.

Do I still need health insurance if I join?

Yes. DPC covers primary care, but we recommend insurance for emergencies, specialists, hospital care, and prescriptions. Many families pair DPC with a high-deductible plan.

Can I cancel my membership anytime?

Yes. We ask for 30 days' notice, but there are no long-term contracts or cancellation penalties.

Is there a family discount for multiple children?

Yes! Your first two children are $150/month each, but additional children are only $50/month each. Annual payment saves you one month free.

What if I only have one child?

You'll pay $150/month plus the $50 registration fee. That's $1,850/year for unlimited pediatric care, home visits, and direct access to your pediatrician.

Are vaccines included?

Dr Rivers has several community partnerships that allow you to use insurance for your vaccines. Dr. Rivers administers them in your home and provides full counseling on the immunization schedule. If you do not have insurance, or her partners do not take your insurance, she will order vaccines for you to get at the health department for free.

What about my health insurance deductible?

DPC membership doesn't apply to your insurance deductible since we don't bill insurance. However, many families find DPC saves money overall by reducing urgent care visits and providing faster care.

Do you accept HSA?

Yes! DPC membership is an eligible expense for Health Savings Accounts.
